March 26, 2021 – Wolfgang Van Halen has released two new songs – “Don’t Back Down” and “Think It Over“ including a video for the song “Don’t Back Down.”
The tongue-in cheek video shows the son of Edward Van Halen poking a bit of fun at himself and critics who claim he has been too much of a perfectionist in releasing his solo debut – “Mammoth WVH.” He appears as himself, playing all the instruments in the video, thanks to some video trickery but make no mistake – it’s all him. He can flat-out play.
You can watch the videos for “Don’t Back Down” and “Think It Over” below:
If Wolfgang releases an actual video for “Think it Over” we will have it here so check back often.
These releases follow on the heels of his first two releases – “Distance” and “You’re to Blame.” The latter was one of the most anticipated releases this year and was the most popular post here to date.
“Distance“ is an open letter to his father — one Wolfgang was fortunate to play for his dad and would become a favorite of Eddie’s — declaring “no matter what the distance is, I will be with you.” The video for the song is created from a collection of family home movies through the years and offers an inside look in to one of music’s most notable personalities. Chronicling the family through the years, the video ends with a touching voicemail left from Eddie to his son.
“I never intended ‘Distance‘ to be the very first piece of music people would hear from me, but I also thought my father would be here to celebrate its release,” Wolfgang said. “This is for him. I love and miss you, Pop.” The song has subsequently gone to number 1 on the iTunes charts.
