Becoming one of the first rock bands to revive the drive-In for concerts, Heavy Metal jokesters Steel Panther, off of the heels of their “Concert to Save the World” show have announced that they will play two live shows in September. Dubbed the “Fast Cars and Loud Guitars” shows, the concerts will take place at the Starlight Drive-In in Pittsburgh, PA and The Circle Drive-In in Scranton, PA. In addition, the band will be playing the “Rockdown in the Lockdown” show on August 16th. The live streamed concert will also feature comedy skits that will be interspersed between songs. A press release on the band’s website for the drive-in shows stated:
“Move over NASCAR! The band that burns more rubbers than Bubba Wallace, Steel Panther is bringing their debaucherously fun concert experience to Pennsylvania this September. The band is going to be performing LIVE at two Pennsylvania area drive-ins this coming September as part of the FAST CARS & LOUD GUITARS TOUR. While it is only 2 tour dates at present, the band will be at the Starlight Drive In located in Pittsburgh, PA on September 11th and the Circle Drive In located in Scranton, PA on September 12th. The band will be rocking live on stage as the performance is broadcast on the movie screen with the audio available via an outdoor PA system as well as in everyone’s car via FM transmitter. This will help to keep all attendees socially and sexually distant. Ticket information for both drive-in shows on the FAST CARS & LOUD GUITARS TOUR can be found here.
“Bring your hot rod and hot dates to the concert event of the weekend. This ain’t your momma’s NASCAR. This is Steel Panther live and out of our cage in Los Angeles. You’re welcome Pennsylvania. Unfortunately, the local government has informed us that it is totally ILLEGAL to attend this concert naked. They blamed Covid; so please STILL wear a mask when you’re around strangers!”
Tickets for the “Rockdown in the Lockdown” virtual concert will cost $15.00 each; with proceeds from each ticket sold going to benefit a local Los Angeles animal rescue and Live Nation’s Crew Nation Fund (benefitting all touring personnel affected by the Covid-19 pandemic). All fans who purchase tickets to the concert will get access to Steel Panther’s Rockbuster Video Store. The Rockbuster Video Store will be a place where fans can access exclusive content to stream for a period of time. Currently, The Concert To Save The World and the classic Live From Lexxi’s Mom’s Garage will be available with ticket purchase and more content will be added. Anyone who has purchased the band’s latest effect pedal The Butthole Burner prior to the concert will get a free ticket to the event.”
The concert will be broadcast live on Sunday, August 16 at 2PM (PST) and 5PM (EST.) In addition, the band will conduct a virtual “You can’t beat the meat & greet” (there’s some outside the box thinking) on various dates and times prior to the shows. The package includes virtual meet-and-greet access, a chat with two members of the band and a screen-shot selfie with the band.
Tickets for Steel Panther’s “Rockdown in the Lockdown” and “Fast Cars and Loud Guitars” are available here. The “You can’t beat the meat & greet” VIP package described above is one hundred dollars (US) and can be purchased here.
