(6/30/2020) An Instagram post by Tool guitarist Adam Jones revealed that Gibson Guitars has begun producing a run of “silverburst” Adam Jones Les Pauls. Gibson’s Silverburst is a black outer body color with a silver painted “burst” in the center of the guitar, extending out towards the perimeter of the guitar. The color has been in and out of production since the late seventies but has a cult following.
Here is Adam’s Instagram post:
Currently, there is no word on how many will be produced or what the retail price will be but expect a premium to be added to the Les Paul Custom’s standard price of $4699 (U.S.) Jones has been playing vintage versions of the same guitar, which first became available in 1979. Some models had a string winder built into the tuning key, enabling the player to pop out the built-in lever to quickly tune the string. There is no word on whether Jones’ signature model with have this feature.
What’s your impression of the Gibson Adam Jones “Silverburst” Les Paul? Would you buy one? If not, what would prohibit you from buying one?
